Boko Haram: Army debunks kidnap of 500 people in Damasak

The Nigerian Army has debunked reports that about 500 women and children were abducted by Boko Haram terrorists in Damasak, Borno State.
Speaking to journalists at a press conference today, the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Col. Sani Usman described the reports as total fabrication.
"It is not true. Its is all lies and I don't just want to start discrediting any news agency but this particular medium has been in the habit of dishing out false news like in more than four occasions now. Please there is no 500 people that was kidnapped" he said.

If Buhari wins, APC will jail me - Patience Jonathan

While speaking today Wednesday March 25th at the PDP women presidential campaign rally in Oyo state, the first lady Patience Jonathan is quoted by Thecable.ng to have said that the APC and its presidential candidate plan to jail many people, including herself if they win the 2015 election...
“I want to tell you the people of Oyo state, you don’t need to listen to APC. APC is a spare drug; they don’t have material to quantify PDP material. You should know that they have been in government before; they were there before PDP, before Goodluck administration. If they come to Oyo, ask them, what do they have for you, not ‘I will, I will’. You were there; when you were there, what did you do for the people of Oyo state? “All what they did for you people when they were there was to send your fathers and your children to prison. That’s all what they have for you people, and I want you to remember. Some of you were still small by then when your fathers were sent to prison by this very APC people. Some of them died in the prison; you know them. You want me to call one of them that died in the prison – don’t you know Adelabu? Haven’t you heard that name before in Oyo? He was the leader of NPN then. He was imprisoned by this APC, by this very people that want to enter there and he died there. They are coming again to jail your fathers and your mothers and even me, but God would never allow them – Holy Ghost fire, Holy Ghost fire, Holy Ghost fire. They would never succeed, because they have nothing to offer. Their own is ‘I will, I will’; that’s all what they have to offer. “PDP has come to liberate the people. After this one, when they fail, they won’t have any name to bear again. The last time they failed, they changed their name to APC – not knowing APC is a spare drug"

ISIS apparently claims responsibility for Tunisia museum attack; 9 arrested

ISIS apparently claimed responsibility Thursday for the deadly terrorist attack at a landmark museum in the heart of that country's capital, a mass shooting that has shaken the birthplace of the Arab Spring and stirred questions about militants in the country.
In an audio statement posted online Thursday, ISIS identified two men -- Abu Zakariya al-Tunisi and Abu Anas al-Tunisi -- it said used "automatic weapons and hand grenades" to kill and injure what it called "crusaders and apostates" in the Bardo Museum in Tunis. Tunisian Health Minister Said Aidi said 23 people are believed to have been killed, including at least one who died at a hospital overnight.
And that bloodshed, the ISIS message warned, is "just the start."
CNN cannot independently verify the legitimacy of the audio statement.
A U.S. official told CNN there is no reason to doubt the claim's authenticity. That said, American officials are checking the platform that the statement went out on, including the extent to which it's tied to the group calling itself the Islamic State.
The current U.S. thinking is the attack may have been carried out by local "franchise" adherents to ISIS, rather than centrally directed by the Islamist extremist group's leadership, which is now thought to be in Syria.
The two attackers were carrying explosives, Tunisian President Beji Caid Essebsi said in an interview Thursday with the French broadcaster TF1.
He credited Tunisian security forces for responding so quickly to the attack to avoid a larger tragedy because "terrible explosives were found on these (attackers) and they didn't have time to use them."
Tunisia has been viewed as the lone democratic success story in the Arab Spring. But the North African nation is not without its issues, including an uneven economy and the distinction of having more citizens -- up to 3,000 Tunisians -- thought to have gone to Iraq and Syria to fight as jihadists than any other country, according to the International Centre for the Study of Radicalization in London.

‘Gong Show’s’ Gene Gene the Dancing Machine dies

Eugene Patton, the stagehand who became "Gene Gene the Dancing Machine" on television's "The Gong Show" in the late 1970s, has died of complications from diabetes. (Photo via YouTube video)
PASADENA — Eugene Patton, the stagehand who became “Gene Gene the Dancing Machine” on television’s “The Gong Show” in the late 1970s, has died.
Patton died in Pasadena, California on March 9 of complications from diabetes, his son Sidney Patton said on Wednesday.
• VIDEO: Gene Gene the Dancing Machine in action
A veteran stagehand, Patton worked on shows like “Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In,” ‘’The Flip Wilson Show” and “The Richard Pryor Show.” He moved onstage for a shuffling dance to Count Basie’s “Jumpin’ at the Woodside” on “The Gong Show,” the absurdist talent show hosted by Chuck Barris.
Patton’s first appearance was an attempt to kill time on the show, but he soon became a regular feature, twisting his feet and dodging objects thrown onstage as the studio audience cheered.

Response to doctors negligence tweet - from a doctor

This morning, this twitter user explained how a woman stormed a hospital in Lagos accusing them of leaving a pad inside her (Read here). A doctor, not the ones involved, just responded. Read below...
"This might be insignificant but as a doctor, I hate when our profession is brought to ridicule by some “attention seekers” who just want to paint us in bad light. The tweeter most likely didn’t know what was going on and just said what came to his mind.
Lets break down the facts. A pad was left in the woman since two days ago- two days after an operation, a woman is still in bed, just getting back on her feet. It is almost not possible to barge into the office.
Secondly, how did she see inside of her to know if a pad was left in her tummy or not? Even an x-ray machine would not pick up a pad in her abdomen. I am assuming it was a perineal (Vaginal) pad and it is normal to keep pads inside women after surgery because of bleeding. This is checked about twice a day and like any normal pad for menses, the patient should discard it at intervals.
It was sad that our fellow Nigerians failed to reason things out before blasting doctors. Nigerian doctors are well trained. We like other Nigerians have been failed by the system. We make do with what we can get access to. I agree that the female doctor was a little unprofessional but look at it- she wasn’t said to have insulted the woman back. The man didn’t even look at the fact that the woman who entered the office was invading his own Privacy as a patient too. Nigerian patients can be very obnoxious sometimes and need harsh tones to get messages across to them. May God help us all.

Los Angeles Kings, Anaheim Ducks renew hostilities with more at stake than usual

The Anaheim Ducks and Los Angeles Kings often have contentious showdowns, evidenced by this scrap between Tim Jackman, left, and Kyle Clifford in January, and will face off for the fifth and final time this season at the Honda Center on Wednesday night. (Hans Gutknecht/Staff Photographer)
The Ducks awoke Tuesday to find themselves in first place in the Western Conference standings, two points ahead of the St. Louis Blues and Nashville Predators. They also were tied with the New York Rangers with 95 points in the Presidents’ Trophy race.
The Kings’ day dawned with the second of two wild-card positions all their own, a tenuous one-point grasp on eighth place in the conference after a 1-0 victory Monday over the Arizona Coyotes. They also were in a virtual tie for seventh with the Calgary Flames.
So, if the Stanley Cup playoffs had started Tuesday, the Ducks (44-20-7) would have faced the Kings (34-22-13) in a No. 1 vs. No. 8 opening-round Freeway Series rematch of last spring’s seven-game test of wills and skills in the second round.
Since there are still games to be played, including the fifth and final regular-season matchup between the Ducks and Kings on Wednesday night, everything remains unsettled. The playoff picture is likely to change again and again and again before the regular season concludes April 11.
What is certain is there’s a great deal at stake when the Ducks and Kings renew their mutual animosity at the Honda Center, perhaps making the latest faceoff between the Southern California rivals as something more than just another evening of Hate Thy Neighbor.
The Ducks want to keep winning, continue their quest for a more consistent game and answer nagging questions about their goaltending and defense.
The Kings need to keep winning, plain and simple, because their margin for error is zero.
These are not unfamiliar scenarios. The Ducks have been one of the NHL’s best teams in the regular season for three seasons running, but haven’t advanced past the second round.
The Kings have sneaked into the playoffs, and yet still managed to win two Stanley Cups in three seasons.
“The last month has been about preparation and getting ready for the playoffs, and that means playing hard every night and not picking and choosing when we’re going to play (well),” Ducks captain Ryan Getzlaf said. “Come playoff time, one win doesn’t get you anything.”
The Ducks’ Game 7 loss to the Kings remains fresh in their minds, as does their Game 7 defeat to the Detroit Red Wings in the first round of the 2013 playoffs. Each loss unfolded on home ice, bringing more painful memories for the Ducks.

Jack Haley, former UCLA and Lakers center, dies at 51

Former UCLA and Lakers center Jack Haley, who parlayed his size into a nine-year NBA career, died Monday at the age of 51.
A statement released by the family through the Lakers said Haley died as a result of heart disease. The Orange County Coroner Division of the Orange County Sheriff’s website said Haley, of Seal Beach, died at Los Alamitos Medical Center.
“It is with great sadness that the Haley family announces the passing of our beloved father, son, and brother,” the Haley family said in the statement. “Our hearts are broken by this sudden, unexpected loss. Jack was honored and grateful for the opportunity to play in the NBA for nine years, alongside world-class athletes with the Los Angeles Lakers, Chicago Bulls, San Antonio Spurs and New Jersey Nets. He cherished every moment and gave 100% whether on or off the court. And more than anything, Jack dearly loved his family. We are humbled and grateful for the outpouring of love, support, and prayers from around the country.”
• PHOTOS: Former UCLA and Lakers center Jack Haley dies at 51
Born in Long Beach and an alumnus of Huntington Beach High, the 6-foot-10 big man had a decade-long professional career in the United States and abroad, bouncing everywhere from the Chicago Bulls to the Los Angeles Lakers to AEK Athens to the LaCrosse Bobcats of the Continental Basketball Association.
In the NBA, he played for four teams, spending two stints with the Bulls and the New Jersey Nets as well as two seasons with the San Antonio Spurs.
In his lone season with the Lakers in 1991-92, he scored 76 points and grabbed 95 rebounds in 49 appearances.
“Jack was a hard worker and always very professional,” Lakers general manger Mitch Kupchak said in a statement. “He was proud to wear the Lakers uniform, and he was always a credit to our organization and the Lakers family. Our condolences go out to his family and friends at this time.”
Haley was a part of the Bulls’ 1995-96 NBA title run, although he famously missed all but seven minutes of the season due to tendinitis in his left knee. He subbed in during Chicago’s final regular-season game against Washington, and ended up with five points.
“Member of Bulls 95-96 team of ages,” tweeted former Bull coach Phil Jackson, the first to publicly report the news of Haley’s death. “RIP.”
Former Chicago teammate Scottie Pippen also expressed his condolences on Twitter: “Very sorry to hear my old teammate, Jack Haley, has passed away. Great guy who I stayed in touch with over the years. RIP.”
Haley also became known as somewhat of a caretaker for the enigmatic Dennis Rodman, although he disliked the label.
“This year, I specifically go out of my way not to speak to the press when they ask, ‘Hey, can we talk to Dennis?’ or ‘Can you get an interview with Dennis?’” he told the Chicago Tribune in 1996. “That’s not my job. Call Dennis Rodman, don’t ask me.”

Man killed in Van Nuys carport by multiple gunshots

A man standing in a Van Nuys carport was shot multiple times and killed late Tuesday night, police said.
On Wednesday, the Los Angeles Police Department identified the victim as Javier Indalecio, 21.
“He was hit in the head and lower body and died at the scene,” officer Norma Eisenman said shortly after dawn Wednesday.
• Video: Memorial grows at scene of shooting
Indalecio was a known gang member, said Lt. Jim Gavin of the LAPD’s Van Nuys Division. But it has not been determined if the shooting was gang-related.
However, gang unit officers were in the area Wednesday conducting interviews, he said.
So far no witnesses to the killing have been found.
Indalecio was killed sometime between 11 and 11:45 p.m. near the rear of small, two-story white stucco apartment complex at 14102 Gilmore St.
The building is at the southwest corner of Gilmore and Hazeltine Avenue, and the six-vehicle parking area is open to the street on the east and a small walkway on the west.
The shooting occurred just north of Victory Boulevard, a bustling area of shops and eateries that give the neighborhood a fast-food aroma. Hazeltine in a busy north-south street while Gilmore is lined with two-story, decades-old apartment buildings. Late-model cars and trucks line the street even on workdays.
Gavin said that the victim’s aunt told officers her nephew routinely slept in his truck at the carport.
Just after 11 p.m. Indalecio’s aunt called 9-1-1 to report gun shots in the vicinity of Hazeltine and Victory, but officers did not find any signs of trouble when they arrived in the area, Gavin said.
They called for more units around 11:30, and 15 minutes later the aunt called back with the apartment’s address and officers found the victim.
The crime scene had been cleaned up by early Wednesday morning. Family members and friends had assembled a small memorial in front of Indalecio’s red pickup truck consisting of four candles, a tan teddy bear, some flowers, a New York Yankee’s baseball cap and a red, white and green Mexican flag with “Javier” written on it.
Van Nuys detectives are asking for the public’s help in providing any information that would lead to the arrest and prosecution of the suspect or suspects responsible for the killing, the LAPD said in a statement.
Anyone with information is urged to contact homicide detectives at (818) 374-0040. During non-business hours or on weekends, calls should be directed to 8770-527-3247. Anyone wishing to remain anonymous should call Crime Stoppers at (800)-222-8477.

Major breakthrough income from Oil & Gas business- by a frustrated Keke businessman

Dear friend, let me go really quick to business. If you're given an opportunity in the next 5 minutes after reading this short article to start a business working with very, very successful people in the business currently such that they work with you and help you grow your income from month 1 to month 2 so that by our 12th month, your average income will be N10 million, on a scale of 1 - 10 how ready will you be to know more about this?

1 - means “you're not interested”
5 - 10 means “you know what, can you tell me more?”
If you chose between 5 to 10, then by all means this will be the most lucrative article you’ll read here today…
Hi, my name is Joke Enaks and today with the permission of my friend and partner, Onome Maureen, I want to share with you an amazing story.
It’s about how I discovered the perfect Oil & Gas business which makes my friends and I a six to seven figure income in a few months without selling.
And more importantly also reveal you that it’s possible for anybody, including you, to get started just like us in a Brand New, Government-Approved way to do business in the petroleum sector which requires...
- No experience,
- No certificate,
- No huge start-up capital,
- No gender discrimination,
- No god father,
- Won't take much of your time,
- Does NOT require selling,
Well, as I speak with you, we've got something in our hands that 87million Nigerians need everyday, not every week but I mean EVERYDAY.
And this same solution, 4.9 billion people need it EVERYDAY all over the world and that's why making a six - seven figure income from this opportunity has been possible by both young and elderly people just like you reading this now.
That’s because these large number of people spend money on petrol, kerosene, diesel and cooking gas EVERYDAY.
Now this solution is brought to you by our parent US based multi-international company operating in over 73 countries and just expanded to Nigeria.
And now you can become a stakeholder in this and I'd like to specially invite you to our Oil and Gas business Launch this weekend at http://myvirtualpetrolstation.com/dalin.htm
At this business launch, you will discover how it’s possible to double, even triple
your current income in a few months. Doubt this?
PROOFS Do NOT LIE!
1. Meet Mr. Patrick Nwagwu (Lagos)
He made N302,000 unbelievable Income after 30days of plugging to our support group.
See his picture and see what he said==> http://myvirtualpetrolstation.com/dalin.htm
2. Meet Mrs. Racheal Omopariola (Ibadan)
She was into cakes decoration and sale of jewelries just to keep body and soul.
It was so frustrating cos she couldn't meet up her obligations or support her husband
and kids, but now makes *more than* N200,000 after her first month in her business
Here's her picture and see what she said==> http://myvirtualpetrolstation.com/dalin.htm
3. Meet Mrs. Onome Maureen (Lagos)
She made $10,000 by her 4th month of launching her Oil & Gas business as well. Fast forward 6 months later, she’s already getting recognized on stage. Went for a one month holiday at Dubai, courtesy her Oil & Gas business, received extra monthly Car allowances.
Here's her picture and how she stumbled into this

4. Meet Me. Mr. Joke Enaks (Lagos)
Last year, precisely on Christmas day, December 25th according to the Vice President of the Nigeria Labour Congress ( NLC), Comrade Issa Aremu said that for about three months now, 22 state governors out of the 36 states in Nigeria were delaying or refusing to pay their workers’ salaries but they paid the delegates during the just concluded primary elections across the states.
Truth is, that same last year when people were crying and weeping over non-payment of salaries, high unemployment rates, crazy job losses etc… myself and a few serious people were banking over N1 million Naira PER month extra from this Brand New business opportunity in the Petroleum sector…WITHOUT selling petrol, kerosene or diesel.
Doubt this? It’s okay…
Now Watch the LIVE VIDEO that shows my income proofs and then fill the form on our website to get our FREE 6-day oil and gas business newsletter training as you prepare to attend this weekend’s Oil & Gas business Launch at http://myvirtualpetrolstation.com/dalin.htm
The True Story Of  How I Discovered The Oil & Gas Business From One Keke Seller
As you know as a young Delta state guy in my early thirties, what do you think is topmost on my mind after going to school?
You guessed right!
It’s how to make some good money...since there are no ready-made high paying jobs lying around. (Side Comment: Maybe that's how you got to this article, you too want to make not any kind of money but GOOD money, so watch what I say from hereon...)

So sometime around April 2013, I raised some cash and wanted to buy the newly introduced "Keke Napep" by the Delta state governor (Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan) to keep body and soul together.
I went to a friend at Akure who sold it and while we were chatting he introduced me to the oil and gas business opportunity.
Well, I took the business like a pinch of salt but became a stakeholder few days later.
I started like a joke...
But You Won't Believe What Happened In My First month! I Made My First N240,000 From The Oil and Gas Business!!!
It was like a dream. I mean I know some of my banker friends who earn around N80,000. I mean bankers o!
But something I started like a joke turned a N240,000 profit for me.
It gets better...
I then made over N350,000 in my next 2 months...EACH month!
Before I knew it, my oil business began bringing for me in excess of over N420,000 on slow months and above N600,000 on better months.
Listen, I'm barely 30 years old o!
If I can do this oil & gas business, so can you!
Infact few weeks ago, Mr. Timothy Anike made N1.3million as profit from the same business. Mrs. Onome Maureen made $12,000 from it and you know the dollar to naira rate, right?
If you’d like to know about this…it starts with one simple step:
All it takes is for you to be a stakeholder with the US Oil & Gas company working with them part-time.
How to Become a StakeHolder In This Oil & Gas Opportunity With The MTN Analogy
Now, let me explain what it means to be a stakeholder in this Oil & Gas business project. Now imagine when MTN came into Nigeria let’s say 10years ago, and the kind of money they are making right now was not as huge as it was 10 years ago…Yes or Yes?
Reason is, today they have more networks, more people have a need to buy recharge cards that’s why they’re making a lot of money than 10 years ago.
Now, what if MTN gives you an offer to become a stakeholder in their expansion 10 years ago to expand to MTN to an area so that, so that any area you expanded to and TODAY anybody that buys recharge cards from that area, YOU get paid a portion.
What will your income be like?
HUGE right?
Well, exactly that’s the same opportunity this US Oil & Gas company is bringing to you.
Now you can become a stakeholder in this and you will discover all the details this weekend at our Oil & Gas business launch taking place at http://myvirtualpetrolstation.com/dalin.htm
Now, this is for real and its okay to doubt…but you must think like a champion. The lifestyle of a champion is that they keep *trying*
What if you actually went to our website, you attended our business launch and it turns out to be the best financial decision you’ve made this year or in a lifetime. How are you going to feel about it?
Well in the next 3 -5 years from today, we’re going to have more regrets for the things we didn’t attempt to start than the things we actually started but failed.
So you’ve got to think like a champion and attend this Oil & Gas business launch. See full details about it and how to reserve your seat at http://myvirtualpetrolstation.com/dalin.htm
Guess what? It all started with a DECISION and a little financial capital of between N35,000 – N140,000. We never imagined that a token capital + hard work + commitment + persistence would be the success recipe for a positive lifestyle change with benefits which include:
- Weekly income
- Monthly income
- Monthly Car allowances
- Paid vacations abroad
- International recognitions
- 25% commissions etc
If you're ready to make a decision to take charge of your future, earning a six to seven figure income, then we are ready to work with you…take you by the hand, working with you to help you build your income from month 1 to month 2 and by the 12th month an average income of N10 million Naira.
Well, here are real life examples of people we have already helped at http://myvirtualpetrolstation.com/dalin.htm
And O… Our phone number is at the website link below just in case you want to speak with us.
But you must book a calling appointment with me first by sending a Text message with your Name + Reserve-DL-Oil + Your WHATSAPP Number + Your GSM number to book a seat or speak with me or attend our business briefing on 0803 930 7316 or +234803 930 7316
Here’s a more detailed explanation on the Oil & Gas business opportunity at http://myvirtualpetrolstation.com/dalin.htm
Cheers,

Court upturns Ibinabo Fiberisinma's election as AGN President

A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos today March 16th upturned the election of Ibinabo Fiberisnma Egbuka as President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria.

Delivering his judgement in a suit filed by actor Maradonna Mikevine, the presiding judge, Justice James Tsoho, ruled that the October 2014 election that brought Ibinabo back for second term was against a subsisting court order obtained by actor Emeka Ike in 2013, restraining the AGN from conducting any elections.

Emeka had dragged Ibinabo to court in July 2013 following the constitution of a National Unity government in the AGN which was led by Segun Arinze who later handed over power to Ibinabo after a disputed election.

Ibinabo has not reacted to this new development.
